About Bruce

I’m a husband and a father. My wife and I have lived in Valley Springs since 1990 and raised our family here. Our two daughters attended local schools and graduated from Calaveras High. A native Northern Californian, I attended public schools and earned an MS in Agricultural Economics from UC Davis.

For 28 years, I’ve been a chief financial officer responsible for substantial budgets, some in the tens of millions of dollars – all with clean audits. I have a solid history of volunteer community service work ranging from coaching kids sports to serving on the boards of local non-profits.

My campaign is focused on moving forward. I am about new ideas for District 5 – change from what has gone before. Clyde Clapp had his chance to make meaningful change for District 5 eight years ago and failed. I bring leadership and skills that have not been seen in District 5 for over a decade.

My background is in governmental fiscal oversight and management. I have led over 20 fiscal audits that required extensive contract and invoice testing, account analysis and reporting to various boards, governmental agencies and independent auditors.

Not everyone on the Board needs to have such an extensive fiscal background, but every Board needs to have at least one person who can ask the difficult questions. As a fiscally conservative economist, I will report what is happening and how we can make our County work for you.
